RPG Renaissance?

Be a hero several times over!

This year going into next year seems to be the time of the Role-Playing Game. There will be a huge bumper crop of RPG games being released in the near future to join the likes of The Witcher and Fallout 3. With so many of these games nearing completion at the same time, it will be a great time to be an RPG fan.

Out of all of the upcoming RPGs, Final Fantasy XV is expected to reclaim its throne as king. Early impressions of the game have been positive and there are now two demos available for fans to get a taste of the expansive game. There is also a tie-in anime with the first episode available on YouTube now, plus a movie due to come out later. Square Enix is pulling out all the stops to ensure that fans can forgive the missteps of Final Fantasy XIII.
For those interested in the Atlus brand of RPG, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is due to come out in June on the Wii U. Previews say that it is a stylized, light, and very Japanese game similar to Shin Megami. Complete with J-Pop songs, commercials, and cameos of characters from Nintendo’s beloved Fire Emblem series,  this game looks like a niche, but very polished RPG.
Speaking of Atlus, Persona 5 is a cultural phenomenon in Japan and it’s next game, Persona 5 is due out this summer. Personally, I’ve never played a Persona game, but the videos I’ve seen the game looks gorgeous and engaging. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the franchise, so maybe Persona 5 will be my first.
Danganronpa is no longer trapped on the failed PS Vita. The next installment is due out on the PlayStation 4 in the near future. This is another series that I have never played, but once again, I have only heard positive things. What could go wrong with a game about a homicidal teddy bear?
These are only a few of the RPGs due out in the near future. Which is your favorite? Is there an RPG I missed that you’re excited for? Comment below!
